IMPLEMENTAION

  1. Breaking the urban character of the prefabricated housing estate

  2. Utilizing solutions that align with the principles of sustainable development

  3. Functionality, comfort, and user-friendliness of the designed space

  1. Contrast-based break between urban and rural: there's nothing more "urban" than prefabricated housing, and nothing more "rural" than straw. The building is constructed from straw bales, which define both its exterior and interior expression.

  2. Straw, being an agricultural by-product, is a material with low embodied energy, making it environmentally friendly. Additionally, it has a high thermal insulation coefficient. The straw walls are supported by a wooden post-and-beam frame. Externally, the bales are protected by a glass curtain wall. Inside, this solution alternates with framed walls finished with waterproof plywood, also used as partition walls. The floor is made of polished, impregnated concrete. The sawtooth roof, with its glazed sections oriented to the north, allows soft, diffused light to illuminate the interior, while the opposite south-facing planes are used for mounting solar collectors to heat domestic water. The compact shape of the building minimizes heat loss through external barriers. The design includes rainwater harvesting and the reuse of gray water for cleaning and toilet flushing.

  3. The layout is simple and clear, with two entrances and seating in the lobby. The building includes:

  • A women's restroom: with two sinks and two toilets

  • A men's restroom: with two sinks, a toilet, and a urinal

  • A restroom for people with disabilities: with a sink, toilet, and necessary amenities

  • A parent-and-child room: with a sink, changing table, two-person seating, and a table; the room is large enough to accommodate a stroller (including twin strollers).
